My friend just got married and she gave out bottle openers shapped like old fashin keys. there was a heart on there with with thier names and it says you hold the key to my heart
real cute
we gave em them all a tube of all the hot coco ingredients, it was a fall wedding. they all loved it… do with the time of year and think of something all would enjoy…
After a lot of options, the bride decided on big sugar cookies with their new monogram.
She had been to a couple wedding that this was done. The people at my table and those around, liked it. It is something that isn’t going to set and collect dust.
i love seeds. i’m giving my guests a seed that grows out the word love. this is something that the guests can always use in the future and not throw out.
and we’re also giving them fans as place card holders cuz we’re having an outdoor reception
Those are very nice. My favorite was at a hawaiian themed wedding; we all received sea shells personalized with our names on them and cute sea shell-shaped soaps. I love your idea.
I like edible favors. I’ve received min-champgane bottles, persoalized candy bars, wedding day yankee candle, champgane flutes.
The worst wedding favors are personalized trinkets or cheap junk from dollar general. I personally hate those tacky swans and plastic bells that are useless.
I’m very picky with candles. Unless they are Yankee Candles or Colonial Home, or Home Interior (borderline) I do NOT buy or keep other candles. There is nothing worse than those cheap gel candles…yuck! I suggest you get GOOD candles that are not going to end up in the trash.
I do not like Bath salt… but that’s just me! Bath salts make a pretty and unexpensive favor.
i think the ladies would love it, but the guys might not be as excited about it. maybe you could also have seashell shaped chocolates, that way the guests can pick out which favor they’d prefer to have.
Personally, I like things that you can eat while waiting for the couple to arrive. I’m always starving so things like chocolate or whatever are great! (Unless you’re having a cocktail hour for guests before you arrive at the reception.)
I like candles and bath salt, but I’m a girl. Plus, I already have enough candles and bath stuff. For some reason, everyone thinks that if you’re a girl, you need as much of that stuff as possible. Can’t remember the last holiday or birthday when I didn’t recieve at least one candle or bath product. (Not that I’m complaining, you can always use bath salts). However, none of the guys are going to take that stuff home with them. I have a friend who gave little jewelry dishes as favors and almost all of them got left on the table. It was the first wedding I had been to where the favors weren’t edible, so at first, I didn’t even know we were supposed to take them. If you give girly stuff as favors, only the girls will take them. I personally like useful or edible favors myself. I like the cd’s people are doing as favors now. Those are a neat idea and everyone will take one.
I would strongly suggest you choose something edible. Its been my experience that edibles are almost always taken, but knick-knacks arent. First of all, you havent given any thought to the men who will be attending, not many will appreciate a candle and some bath salts, also, not everyone decorates their living spaces in the colors or theme of your favor, so if it didnt go they wouldnt take it home and if they by chance did they would just to throw it away.
You will be less likely to waste your money if you stick with something that can be eaten and the only trash would be the wrapper.
I think its not needed but something that has your names and the date are nice, the last one I went to gave out coffee and tea packages to those who wanted them
Stick with something edible, a charitable donation, or something optional like a caricature artist.
The sad truth is that anything else gets left behind or thrown in the trash. If you have the extra money to spend then go for it but otherwise the money would be much better spent elsewhere on the wedding that the guests would appreciate more like better food or drinks.
that sounds great, i would love to be at that wedding…
…but i didn’t even know tht ppl gave out favors, i mean it is you and your fiance’s special day… but yess sounds great
I’m a HUGE fan of when the bride and groom make a donation to a charity in leiu of favors…that’s what my husband and I did. We gave our guests the website where they could donate to as well….they thought it was a lovely idea.
Useful favors are always the best ones. Gel candles and bath salts sound great – for a beach themed wedding. Maybe don’t give both to everyone, but alternate each place setting with a candle and the salts. I think it sounds like a great idea though!!

Bath Salts might be nice for the ladies. I’m not a fan of gel candles myself.
On a side note, edible favors are ALWAYS a hit. Have you seen those chocolate sea shells? Their adorable and delicious.

Actually none is needed.
Being at the celebration is enough of a favor.

I attended a wedding this past Saturday.
After a lot of options, the bride decided on big sugar cookies with their new monogram.

I don’t care about getting a favor. I usually just leave mine on the table. I have enough clutter at home. Save your money.

Wedding favors are taken home and thrown away. Save the money and use it somewhere else in the wedding where it is needed.

Wedding guests only like to receive two types of gifts . .
(1) Something edible, and preferably homemade
(2) Something useful . . like a nice bud vase
Cute items are usually left on the reception dinner table or thrown out when the guest gets home.
