I agree with you about those scented air fresheners. Just read the warning labels and that is enough for me besides my nose really acts up with those. Some time ago, a friend recommended a product called fridge-IT activated carbon odor absorbers to take care of the smell that was coming from under my sink and trash area. I tried it and it really worked great and without fragrances that just cover up the odor. Since then, I now use Fridge IT odor absorbers just about everywhere around the house to keep those lingering smells away. I buy them usually at Linens N Things but also on line at. They have other products I like too.

I’ve actually got gain detergent and water in a bottle. clean linen glad spray smells fresh, clean cotton yankee candle, clean linen glade candle, febreze candles, febreze, and ive poured a box of baking soda throughout the house, let it sit and then vacuum it up. helps get rid of the odor. also, arm and hammer has powder u can put down and vacuum up, and glad has new fabric and air sprays in clean linen and same with febreze for fabric and air

put fabric softener sheets in places where they can’t be found but can still be smelled. (maybe under the couch or something)
bake something wonderful. i love when i come home and it smells like something warm and inviting
maybe wash all your pillows/blankets and such (using lovely smelling fabric softener)

Unscented candles dont smell of much to be honest. You could have fresh flowers around the home, also potpourri, scented wood balls – they work a treat can be bought in most supermarkets.
