Making beeswax candles are a simple and inexpensive way to introduce yourself and/or your children to candlemaking. All you need is a sheet of beeswax and a wick. No heat required! Beeswax sheets are inxpensive, they come in a variety of colors and have a pleasant, natural scent.

The easiest candles to make are dipped candles. Cut a length of the wick, attach something for a weight to the bottom. Have melted wax ready in buckets in different colors. Dip in one color several times until its about a 1/2 inch in diameter. Then dip in each color one at a time to have a layered candle. Let it dry for a few seconds between dipping.
Another easy kind is to find rolls of beeswax. It looks like honeycomb, but its thin and flexible. You can just cut a strip of it to be the height you want for the candle, lay a piece of wick down and roll it up. They have a slightly strong smell when they burn, though.
For more advanced candles, go to Michael’s or somewhere like that, they have all kinds of molds and types of wax
